TURN OF THE MILLENIUM TIME CAPSULE OPENS THIS YEAR
ADVANCE NOTICE - Camp Eastman will mark its centennial this summer with a fitting tribute to its storied past, as contents of a time capsule placed in 2001 are set to be displayed on August 29, 2026.
The capsule is expected to reveal photographs and mementos from Scouts, offering a glimpse into camp life at the dawn of the 21st century. Its opening is the highlight of the celebration, commemorating one hundred years since Camp Burro's founding in 1926.
Scouts and Scouters, both past and present, are expected to gather for the occasion, as Camp Eastman observes a century of outdoor adventure, character building, fellowship, and tradition — one hundred years of Scout camping, with many more yet to come.

ADVANCE NOTICE - Scouts from across the region will gather at Camp Eastman from August 28th through 30th, 2026, for the “Annivers-O-Ree,” a camporee held in honor of the camp’s one hundredth year since its founding in 1926 as Camp Burro.
Throughout the weekend, the grounds will be filled with the sight of Scouts in camp, mindful that they walk in the very same places where generations before them pitched their tents a century ago. There is a quiet pride in knowing they share in a tradition so long sustained.
A novel feature of the occasion will find Scouts trying their hand at a putting course set across the camp, each hole offering a glimpse into the history and growth of Camp Eastman. In sport and in learning alike, the past and present shall meet upon the same ground.
The Annivers-O-Ree serves as a gathering where today’s Scouts take their place in a story one hundred years in the making.
FLEA MARKET OPEN SATURDAY
SALE - The ever-popular CEDA Flea Market returns once more to Camp Eastman, a sale of great note and long standing, having delighted Scouts and staff for more than twenty years.
Beginning at 10 o’clock on Saturday morning and continuing through the noon hour, the market shall be held beneath the Trading Post pavilion, where patrons will find a fine assortment of goods at fixed and fair prices—Scout patches in abundance, vintage uniform pieces, and no shortage of rare and curious treasures waiting to be claimed.
Known to draw a lively crowd, this well-loved market is not to be missed.
LOCAL MAYORS ISSUE PROCLAMATIONS HONORING CAMP'S CENTENNIAL
LOCAL NEWS - Communities across southeast Iowa and west central Illinois are joining in recognition of Camp Eastman’s 100th Anniversary, with cities and towns issuing official mayoral proclamations honoring the camp’s century of service to youth and Scouting.
Among them, the City of Burlington formally recognized the anniversary of Camp Eastman, founded May 21, 1926, while also honoring the Burlington Rotary Club for its original role in selecting and securing the camp property for the youth of the region. The proclamation further recognized the lasting support of Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Eastman, whose dedication helped shape the camp in its early years.
The proclamations celebrate Camp Eastman’s long history of providing outdoor experiences, leadership development, and lifelong memories to thousands of Scouts and families throughout the Mississippi Valley region.
In issuing these declarations, community leaders have encouraged former Scouts, staff, and supporters to return to Camp Eastman on August 29, 2026, to celebrate the centennial and witness the many improvements made across the reservation over the past one hundred years.
